Where New York senators stand on same-sex marriage

Thanks to surricattus .

A quick guide for New Yorkers wondering where their senator stands on Marriage Equality:
http://tools.advomatic.com/24/nyequalit y/totals?
If your senator is "opposed" or unknown," call and let them know where you stand. If they're supporting, call and thank them, encourage them to keep up the fight.
I've already thanked Senator Espada, saying "to deny marriage equality is to embrace bigotry and fear -- two things New Yorkers should stand up and reject."
*****
I would add that if you oppose same-sex marriage, you ought to do the same thing. You are entitled to your opinion.
PS: I called Betty Little's office at (518) 455-2811 and talked to Kathy, who said the senator does not think the state should redefine marriage.
She also said they are keeping track of the number of calls they receive expressing an opinion.

Class last night was pretty good. We got to work on forms for a decent amount of time, and Phil and Ras both worked with our group (gold sashes working on Cannon). Got some more of the detail and finer points worked out for what we know so far, which was excellent. Makes for better practice outside class.
Finally let my mom know last night that L and I are learning kung fu. She was trying to reconcile kung fu with druidry, which was kind of interesting. Our school is really into promoting good health and fitness, reducing one's impact on the environment, and being active in the community though, so it does go together in that respect. I joked about how I'll be better able to protect the trees ;)
The one aspect that bothers me is that we're driving more than we used to, because the classes are down in the valley. But there isn't a closer place really. Oh, there's an instructor up in Charlemont, but that isn't really any closer to us, not substantially so. But right now, fitness is a priority for us and stuff we were doing on our own wasn't quite sufficient. Kung fu really conditions your whole body. Also, beats going to a gym any day. I tried that once with a friend who was going, but it bored me silly in no time flat. And of course, the better shape we're in and the healthier we are, the less dependent we'll be on modern medicine, which is fine by me. Medications place a big strain on the environment, from production to shipping to disposal, so the less we contribute to that, the better. I'm especially aware of this at the moment because my triglycerides are too high and the doctor says I have to lose some weight in the next few months and then we'll test again. Of course one doesn't lose weight just through exercise, so the diet is being watched as well, but exercise does help the body process things more properly, and can help with things other than losing weight.

Royal Whims

Vairavi posted her Royal Whims should she ever become queen and they were really imaginative. Then I started wondering...
What would YOUR whims be should you ever become king or queen? One stipulation, it can't be a whim that's commonly done. (Chocolate, coffee, Yoo-Hoo or Mountain Dew.) Be imaginative and semi-realistic about what you might use as a whim or whims. Oh, and I'll even let Alethea play again if she wants to cause I love her and don't want her to feel left out.
Oh, and it's about 15 hours before I get into the exhibit for the Star Wars concert. Not that I'm excited about it or anything.

For those who care - the Society for Creative Anachronism is a HOBBY, RECREATION, AND/OR GAME. Everyone will enjoy it to their level...and should not fault the method/means of enjoyment of others for having any effect on their own. Anyone taking the SCA too seriously, or implying that the fun of others in the game is interfering with their own should seek immediate psychiatric help.
Don't we all participate in this organization for the fun of it?
Thank you.

BOSTON -- Knuckleballer Tim Wakefield will not only be back for a 16th season with the Red Sox, but likely a 17th.
Facing a Monday deadline to pick up Wakefield's $4 million club option, the Red Sox instead agreed to a two-year pact with the veteran right-hander.

Just cruised today. Took a sanity break. We'll see how it flies tomorrow at work. Anyway you slice it, it's going to impact my wallet negatively come Saturday....(sigh)...watched tele, raked up some leaves, sat outside and watched more fall, blogged, ate, made tea. I needed that.
Sunday: Hit the Babylon Gun Show in the morning. Pathetic. Same faces, same stuff, only the prices change. (excelsior, ever upward, is the NYS motto after all)....But I had fun cruising there and back with an old "Blues Brothers" tape blasting....afters, I swung by Bros. Grim and helped out with "Assault III" painting. It was fun. Pleasant way to spend a day. Shot the breeze with Matt and Linda, chatted with Izzy, and with Gil, got my ear chewed off by a VERY enthusiastic kid, and chatted with his dad Voke for a bit....(Yes... Voke. That is his real name.) Later I headed home, ordered Chinese with HM Mark, and Laurie, and hung out with the usual Sunday night crew. Ended the evening sitting with HM Linda watching Adult Swim. Venture Bros. How I do love you so......
Saturday: St. Andrews. Damned good event. Good turn out, superlative food, good conversation, fun court, lots of friendly faces, interesting heavy List, VERY interesting light list. The sight is GORGEOUS!!! I wanna steal it!! I was there from 11AM until closing. Just a perfect example of a great SCA event. Ran into lots of folks I haven't seen in a bit. Ran into 1 that was.... a bit uncomfortable....to see. Got 1 piece of very sad news. My sincere condolence goes out to lady Bree on the loss of her daughter. I was proud that all of Daves work as Senechal was finally recognized. Congratulations LORD David!!!! The kings royal proclamation that "The Princess Bride" is now period... was priceless!! I was sitting all the way in the back row and I could actually hear certain folks teeth grinding.....(snicker)....His majesty is loud, abrasive and a thug... I LIKE HIM!!!! I think it was exceptionally cool of him to make Sour Pete a THL on the spot.... (WELL damned deserved for the work on that door!!!) Had fun talking LL with Firebow and Sis out front. I'm really really jazzed about getting qualled, I was just DROOLING to try playing with the LL great swords they were fighting with....Just a top notch event. I'm so glad I decided to go.

2. Widmer Brothers Cherry Oak Doppelbock Reserve is officially declared a "Beer To Make Stew With."
3. When
alethea_eastrid gets home, she will have the choice of chicken soon with rice, leeks and squash (broth made from stewing chicken bits) or beef stew with leeks (there were a lot of them), onions, potatoes and the above-mentioned doppelbock.
4. This is the first winter I really miss fresh fruit like peaches and strawberries. I miss the summer farmers' markets, but I look forward to the winter ones.
5. So who's with me on Salt Cod? Ummm, love a good Bacalauh.
6. You know it's been a tough day when you have a cup of coffee *after* work. Ummm . . . pumpkin.
7. And even a photo . . . I grew up in Westerly, RI. My stepfather dug clams in Misquamicut, so seeing Watch Hill and Mystic get their due at a major oyster restaurant -- Flex Mussels -- in New York just warms the cockles of my heart.
